Basic level | 1 CE credit | USGBC | Webinar format
As a part of USGBC’s Earth Day 2022 celebrations, the LEED for Cities and Communities program featured The Heights community in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Heights project is a 110-acre brownfield, formerly the Hillcrest Golf Course, that is being redeveloped as a mixed-use community by the Saint Paul Port Authority. The team members discuss making the business case for certifying the project, the ways in which they engaged the community and the innovative financing options they used. In addition, they discuss how The Heights provides essential services within 15 minutes of walking distance, promotes alternative fuel vehicles and smart mobility, works to achieve circularity and net zero, uses smart city strategies and technologies, and advances social equity and affordability.
