Innovation and Appeal Meet in Prescott Valley
Mandalay Homes and Mosaic team up on a sustainable, master planned community in Northern Arizona
Nestled in the hills of Prescott Valley, Arizona, a town north of Phoenix, Jasper by Mandalay Homes is a 1,200-acre clean energy, master planned community of single-family homes with a vibrant and sustainable outlook. The project began in 2017 with a plan to build 2,900 homes over eight to 10 years.
Currently, 308 homes are built with the help of partners like Mosaic, the nation’s fastest-growing general contractor and technology company offering comprehensive predevelopment and construction management services for the country’s most innovative residential developers.
“Prior to partnering with Mosaic, Mandalay had been approaching the limits of what traditional product innovation and existing building materials can do,” said Dave Everson, owner and founder of Mandalay Homes, in a press release. “By improving our control over the construction process and speeding up the framing time, we can add more of this much-needed housing supply without sacrificing quality.”
Mosaic’s innovative approach to building allows more to be done with less. While a labor shortage is still affecting building throughout the country, Mosaic’s software rapidly converts traditional blueprints into digital models and provides field workers with step-by-step, individualized instructions that are easy to implement and quick to iterate.
“Our platform is designed to help solve the labor crunch by making people more effective and productive with the help of technology, not replacing people with technology,” said Mosaic founder and CEO Salman Ahmad.
The community features six floor plans that combine modern design and functionality in a range of models from 1664 to 2531 square feet. The 700 Series showcases more grand and expansive floorplans, with spacious great rooms, three to five bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a two car garage.
The 600 Series generally has a smaller square footage than the 700 series but in no way does it lack elegance. From 1664 to 2108 square feet, these homes range from two to four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two car garage. With that said, both the 600 and 700 series are customizable to fit a homeowner’s needs.
Also involved in the project are Steve Stiemsma, an architect located in Phoenix, Arizona and Interior Logic, the largest national provider of interior design and finish solutions.
Mandalay Homes, a leader in green home building, again brought their values and vision to this community. One of the most innovative aspects of the master planned community is the addition of solar power on all homes as well as battery backup systems – supplied by Sonnen, a German energy company – to store energy during “on-peak” hours.
In addition to this, Mandalay Homes are built with all EPA Indoor airPLUS certified materials using advanced building techniques that reduce materials needed. The homes also incorporate spray foam insulation from AeroBarrier to help keep a home cool or warm, saving energy and costs as a result. The homes also feature energy-recovery ventilators, high efficiency heat pumps and low-E windows.
The homes claim an energy star certification and a Zero Energy Ready Home certification from the U.S. Department of Energy. All homes use WaterSense fixtures, low VOC paint, feature 100 percent LED lighting and include a pre-wired electric car charging port.
The community assembles around a central park and clubhouse, still under construction. The 10,000 square-foot clubhouse offers a wide range of fitness and leisure amenities. A fitness center is fully equipped with state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment and pickleball and tennis courts as well as a yoga lawn will be available to residents.
Residents will find the leisurely aspects of the clubhouse a major plus as well. With a multipurpose room available for private events and community activities, family and adult pools, an outdoor kitchen, grills and fire pits, a coffee shop, wine bar and a dog park, the space is sure to be a social hub for gathering, unwinding and enjoying the sun with family and friends.
With modern amenities and energy-efficient homes, this community has no shortage of natural benefits either. Glassford Hill, a 14 million year old dormant volcano, shares its space with the community of Jasper. Hiking and biking trails wind around the green space, and off to the north, views of the high desert and mountains enchant. Stunning vistas from the various winding paths set among the lush, green spaces of this walkable community will surely become a daily ritual for residents.
