Net zero: What does it mean to your organization?
Net zero can mean different things depending on an organization’s priorities, which could lead to variations in how emissions are measured and reported. Some companies may focus on Scope 1 and 2 emissions — the kinds within their control — and postpone Scope 3 tracking due to how complex it can be to track within the construction industry.
“It should not be a surprise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to net zero,” said LEED fellow Geoffrey Brock to USGBC. “The goal isn’t to craft a perfect strategy to demonstrate a perfect score at a single point — the goal is to have a positive impact as quickly as possible.”
