The gaps in building decarbonization programs – and how to fix them
According to a report by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), we would save up to $2 trillion between now and 2025 if we decarbonize buildings equitably. The energy savings, social benefits and avoided health costs of moving away from fossil fuels significantly outweigh the costs. However, in our decades of building decarbonization work, we have found that many current solutions don’t reach a key group of residents: low to moderate-income (LMI) households.
