The Intersection of Energy Efficiency and Affordable Housing

While the International Energy Conservation Code is updated every three years, it is up to states to determine how to adopt the code into their existing legislation to create homes that are not only energy efficient, but cost-effective as well.

According to KSL, the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code comes packed with energy-efficient mandates for builders: higher-rated insulation, better seals on air ducts and doors, and all interior lights in homes would need to be energy-efficient. It’s up to each state to determine if they adopt the code, just parts of it, or none of it.
